IPSEA (the Independent Provider of Special Education Advice) is a UK charity offering free, legally accurate advice for families navigating the SEND system in England. Their website includes template letters for every stage of the EHCP process, factsheets written in plain English, and a tribunal support service.

One thing to be upfront about: because this is legal advice about English education law, it’s really only useful if you’re in England — EHCPs, annual reviews and SEND tribunals don’t translate to other countries’ systems. But if you are in the middle of an EHCP assessment, preparing for an annual review, or considering an appeal, this is one of the most practically useful things we’ve found. Their resources are written by people who understand both the law and the reality of what families are dealing with.
