Winston's Wish: Supporting Bereaved Children
A UK childhood bereavement charity we've found genuinely helpful — age-specific guidance, a helpline, and resources for families and schools.
Read at source →Winston’s Wish is a UK charity — the country’s leading one for bereaved children. Their website has age-specific guidance that is both practically and emotionally informed, covering everything from how to tell a child someone has died, to supporting a teenager through grief, to helping schools respond.
Grief doesn’t respect borders, and most of this guidance is just as useful outside the UK as within it. The helpline (08088 020 021) is UK-based, for parents and professionals supporting a grieving child; readers in the US may want to know about the Dougy Center, a well-known childhood bereavement organisation there. If you’re not sure where to start, this is worth bookmarking.
